The sources indicated that this team has been active for several months but has significantly intensified its efforts during the recent conflict in Gaza, driven by concerns that the tunnels might be used for attacking Israeli settlements within the West Bank and for kidnapping or killing citizens.

Comprised of engineering corps, commandos, and intelligence officers, this team actively initiates search operations and raids to locate these tunnels, with a focus on Palestinian refugee camps and various neighborhoods in Palestinian cities, especially those near settlements or border areas.

The team also responds to complaints from Jewish citizens who report hearing digging noises at night around their homes. During the war period, the squad conducted numerous incursions in the West Bank specifically to search for tunnel openings. During these operations, Palestinians have complained of complete infrastructural damage, as well as assaults on residents living in houses on the edges of towns, who are suspected of allowing tunnel digging near their homes.

According to "Yedioth Ahronoth" newspaper, although the team has yet to find any concrete evidence of existing tunnels, it continues to operate actively throughout the West Bank. An officer from the team was quoted: "We do not take any complaint lightly. After the attack on October 7th, we treat every complaint seriously and follow it through to the final inspection."
