Al-Taawoun Falters Against Al-Khaleej, Settles for Another Draw in the Saudi League
Al-Taawoun stumbled once again in the Saudi Professional Football League after relinquishing their lead to draw 1-1 with their visitors, Al-Khaleej, on Thursday.
Aown Al-Saluli, an Al-Taawoun player, inadvertently scored an own goal during the added time of the first half, equalizing the match for the visiting team.
Abdul Fattah Adam had earlier given Al-Taawoun the lead after 21 minutes of play, only for a subsequent goal to be disallowed in the second half for offside.
With this draw, Al-Taawoun, which had previously tied with Al-Ittihad in the last round following victories over Al-Hazem and Al-Tai, reached 48 points, moving up to fourth place.
Al-Khaleej, on the other hand, increased their points tally to 35, advancing to the eighth position, edging out Damac and Al-Fayha based on direct confrontations, with both teams having played one less match.
Al-Hilal leads the league with 77 points, 12 points ahead of Al-Nassr, the team of star player Cristiano Ronaldo.
