Dr. Al-Ahmadi speech put the spotlight on Saudi Arabia’s transformative journey in women’s empowerment.

Empowering women: Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmadi's spotlight on Saudi Vision's 'Historic Legislative Revolution'

Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmadi, the assistant speaker of the Saudi Shoura Council, highlighted Saudi Arabia's advancements in women's empowerment, aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030 agenda, at the sixth annual Global Forum for Women Leaders.

The forum, held in partnership with Women Political Leaders (WPL) and the Parliament of Iceland, focused on the global issue of women's empowerment in leadership roles.

In her speech, Dr. Al-Ahmadi emphasized the transformative impact of Saudi Vision 2030, initiated in 2016, on women's rights, opportunities, and comprehensive development in Saudi Arabia.

She pointed out the remarkable progress in closing the gender gap in education and the increased employment of women, noting that women now hold 41% of senior and middle management positions in the business sector, as well as leadership roles in government and the Shoura Council.

Saudi Arabia's success, as per Dr. Al-Ahmadi, is attributed to political will, institutional mechanisms, and initiatives like the “Women’s Empowerment Initiative” in the 2023 budget.

The nation has also experienced a legislative revolution under Saudi Vision 2030, with new laws and policies supporting equal opportunity, women’s economic participation, and the protection of women's rights, all while respecting societal values and culture.

Dr. Al-Ahmadi acknowledged the ongoing nature of the journey towards women's empowerment and leadership, recognizing the unique challenges faced by women in different societies, especially those in conflict zones like occupied Palestine.
