The 'Countryside Winter' festival, organized by Reef Saudi, the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, attracted more than 7,000 visitors in Madinah.
The three-day event, designed to highlight local agricultural and heritage products, aimed to bolster the rural economy by promoting rural tourism and showcasing the authentic rural charm of various regions in Saudi Arabia.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, a considerable number of families and individual visitors, including both locals and tourists, participated in the festival, underscoring the interest in rural tourism within the region.
Reef Saudi spokesperson Majed Al-Buraikan noted that the festival featured 22 program beneficiaries, each presenting a range of products that included fresh fruit, natural honey, aromatic oils, and traditional handicrafts, all representative of the region's heritage.
The festival offered attendees cultural performances, traditional games, and interactive displays highlighting handicrafts and sustainable farming practices, providing an engaging experience for visitors of all ages.
Al-Buraikan remarked that the significant attendance highlights the community's commitment to supporting local products, contributing to the economic sustainability of rural communities, and enhancing the quality of local production.
Each booth within the festival encapsulated a success story, reflective of Reef Saudi's endeavors to empower small farmers and artisans through training in contemporary agricultural techniques.
Continuing to augment the rural economy, Reef Saudi supports small-scale farmers and producers by providing marketing platforms aimed at increasing awareness and opportunities for local products.
