British Police Officer Charged with Terror Offenses for Supporting Hamas on Social Media
A British police officer, Mohammed Adil, admitted to terror charges for sharing pro-Hamas images on social media after the militant group attacked Israel in October 2021, resulting in over 1,200 deaths and hostage seizures.
Adil, 26, from West Yorkshire, pleaded guilty in Westminster Magistrates’ Court to two counts of publishing images supporting a proscribed organization, in violation of the Terrorism Act.
He shared the images, which featured a Hamas fighter wearing a headband, on WhatsApp with nearly 1,100 contacts.
A Hamas military leader is calling for Palestinian independence in social media posts.
A police officer, Adil, shared these posts and was arrested for it.
The officer, who had a good reputation prior to this incident, was released on bail and awaits sentencing on June 4.
The chief magistrate acknowledged Adil's previous good character but may impose a prison term for sharing the controversial posts.
