A French court sentenced an Iranian man, 61, to a suspended 10-month term for entering the Iranian consulate in Paris with fake grenades.
He claimed it was in response to his sister's arrest and described the Iranian authorities as "terrorist." The court also prohibited him from carrying weapons or approaching the consulate again.
The incident led to a large security presence at the consulate on Friday.
A man was arrested for tearing down flags and making threats at the Iranian embassy in Paris, but no explosives were found on him or in his possession.
Witnesses reported him saying he wanted to die, and he was wearing a vest with fake grenades.
The man was found to be of sound mind by a psychiatric expert during his trial.
He had previously been convicted for setting fire to tires at the embassy entrance in 2023.
The man went on long tirades about the political situation in Iran during the trial, leading the judge to remind him to focus on the facts.
Protests in Iran's Islamic republic have intensified since September 2022, following the death of Mahsa Amini in custody for allegedly violating the country's mandatory dress rules for women.
Repression against citizens has increased, and executions continue at a high rate.
At least 110 people have been executed this year, according to the Iran Human Rights group based in Norway.
