Yemen's National Museum Damaged During Deadly Israeli Airstrikes
The Houthi Ministry of Culture in Yemen has reported damage to the national museum and other historical sites following Israeli airstrikes that killed at least 35 people and injured over 130 others.
SANAA, Yemen (AP) — The Israeli airstrikes in Yemen have caused significant damage to Yemen's national museum and other historical sites in Sanaa, according to the Houthi Ministry of Culture.
The strikes, which led to the deaths of at least 35 people and injuries exceeding 130 others, have placed thousands of historical artifacts at risk of damage, the ministry stated.
Associated Press photos and video footage captured the destruction to the building's facade.
The Houthi-run health ministry reported that most of the casualties occurred in Sanaa, where military headquarters and a fuel station were targeted on Wednesday.
Israel has previously launched multiple waves of airstrikes in response to missile and drone attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis.
The Houthis, who support Hamas and the Palestinians in Gaza, claimed responsibility for sending a drone that breached Israel's air defenses and struck a southern airport on Sunday.
