US Defense Secretary Urges Countries with Patriot Missiles to Donate to Ukraine
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin urged countries with Patriot missile systems to consider donating them to Ukraine during a hearing before the House Armed Services Committee on Tuesday.
Austin mentioned that he has been in contact with several unnamed leaders of countries that possess the Patriot systems in the past two weeks, encouraging them to provide more capability to Ukraine.
The European Union countries known to have the Patriot systems include Spain, Greece, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and Sweden.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously requested a minimum of seven additional Patriot or high-end air defense systems from NATO members to counter Russian air strikes and increase military assistance for Kyiv.
