UK Arms Exports to Israel: David Cameron Defends Differences from US Sales
Foreign Secretary David Cameron explained that the United Kingdom's (UK) arms exports to Israel differ significantly from those of the United States (US).
He emphasized that the UK's arms sales to Israel are relatively small in scale and subject to stringent regulations.
Cameron's remarks came in response to a question regarding the possibility of the UK following the US lead in withholding weapons from Israel in the event of a major invasion of Rafah.
He clarified that the UK does not have a government-supplied weapons stockpile in Israel, but rather issues licenses for defense exports.
According to Cameron, the UK's defense exports to Israel account for less than 1% of the country's total arms acquisitions.
In contrast, the US is a significant supplier of weapons to Israel.
Cameron's speech highlighted the distinction between the UK and US arms export situations, emphasizing the smaller scale and stricter procedures governing the UK's defense exports to Israel.
