Suez Canal Disruption: Xin Hai Tong 23 Ship Sails Again After Engine Malfunction
A large ship, the Xin Hai Tong 23, became stranded in the Suez Canal in Egypt on Thursday due to an engine malfunction, causing shipping traffic through the canal to be disrupted.
The ship was successfully refloated by tugboats and traffic returned to normal after six hours of delays.
The Suez Canal Authority stated that the ship was refloated and shipping activity would return to normal as soon as the towing process was finished as a precautionary measure.
Approximately 12% of the world's trade moves through the canal.
