Sixth Year of Makkah Route Initiative: Simplified Hajj Journey for Pilgrims from Seven Countries
The Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia is finalizing plans for the sixth year of the Makkah Route Initiative, part of the Doyof Al-Rahman Program under Saudi Vision 2030.
This initiative allows selected pilgrims from seven countries (Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Côte d'Ivoire) to depart from 11 airports in their respective countries for Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
A total of 617,756 pilgrims have benefited from this program since its launch in 2017.
The Makkah Route Initiative is a transportation service designed to simplify travel for pilgrims going to Saudi Arabia.
It allows pilgrims to complete immigration procedures at their country of departure, bypassing long lines at Saudi Arabian airports.
The initiative includes electronic visa issuance and biometric data collection at the airport of departure, as well as health requirement verification and luggage coding and sorting for delivery to pilgrims' residences in Makkah and Madinah.
The text describes the arrival process for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj or Umrah journey.
Upon arrival, pilgrims are transported to their accommodations in Makkah or Madinah via buses.
Their luggage is delivered to their residences by service agencies.
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is leading this initiative in collaboration with several other ministries, authorities, and companies, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, and Hajj and Umrah, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the General Directorate of Passports, and Elm Company.
