Saudi, Russian Deputy Foreign Ministers Meet in Sochi

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, has met with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Vasilievich Vershinin, on the sidelines of the Russia-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Strategic Dialogue ministerial meeting in Sochi.
The two officials explored ways to enhance bilateral relations between their countries and discussed recent regional and international developments.
The meeting is viewed as an essential platform for reinforcing ties and exchanging perspectives on regional and global issues that hold mutual interest, including threats to security.
According to the GCC Secretary General, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, such discussions are critical in addressing current challenges facing the region and world.
GCC nations reaffirm their commitment to resolving conflicts through negotiations and diplomatic means, emphasizing dialogue and adherence to international laws aimed at maintaining stability and fostering prosperity.
In a joint statement issued by GCC foreign ministers and Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov, they condemned Israel's attack on Qatar as a violation of international norms and an affront to the sovereignty of Qatar.
The statement warns that without a decisive international response, there will be significant repercussions for regional peace and security.
