Saudi Program Empowers Small Livestock Farmers Through Digital Management
The Saudi Reef program focuses on boosting productivity, income, and food security for small livestock farmers.
JEDDAH: The Sustainable Rural Agricultural Development Program in Saudi Arabia, known as Saudi Reef, emphasizes the importance of supporting small livestock farmers to enhance productivity and investment.
In its review of last year's efforts, the program highlighted advancements in digital management for intensive livestock farms, particularly with the introduction of the Saudi Smart Flock system.
This technology, using smart solutions including facial recognition, is aimed at managing traditional and intensive livestock farms more efficiently.
The system has been implemented on six small farms as a pilot project, enabling real-time monitoring of productivity, animal health updates, and record management through its platform.
The use of this innovative approach not only reduces losses and enhances quality but also supports informed decision-making by providing accurate data.
The Saudi Reef program specifically targets the small livestock sector to improve productivity, increase farmers' income, enhance livelihoods, and modernize traditional production methods while ensuring food security in the country.
