Saudi Authorities Arrest 20,319 People for Breaching Residency and Security Laws

Riyadh: Saudi authorities have reported a significant crackdown on immigration violations within the country, resulting in the arrest of 20,319 people over the course of one week.
The majority of these arrests were made for breaches of residency laws, with additional cases involving unauthorized border crossings and labor-related issues.According to official reports, out of the 12,891 individuals detained for violating residency laws, a substantial number faced arrest for attempting to enter the Kingdom without proper authorization.
Notably, Yemeni nationals accounted for approximately 50% of these arrests, followed by Ethiopian nationals at 49%, with a minor percentage comprising other nationalities.Furthermore, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that a total of 3,888 individuals were apprehended for attempting to cross the Kingdom's borders irregularly.
Additionally, 3,540 people were arrested in connection with various labor violations.The Ministry of Interior emphasized severe penalties for those facilitating or participating in illicit entry into the Kingdom.
The official statement highlighted potential imprisonment terms of up to 15 years, alongside fines reaching SR1 million ($267,000), and the confiscation of vehicles and properties used in such activities.Citizens are encouraged to report suspected violations through toll-free numbers, with specific instructions for different regions of the Kingdom: 911 for Makkah and Riyadh, and 999 or 996 for other areas.
This initiative aims to enhance national security measures while maintaining a strict stance against unauthorized immigration.
