Saudi Arabia's Aviation Strategy: Tripling Passengers, Expanding Flight Routes, and Enhancing Passenger Experience

Saudi Arabia's Aviation Strategy: Tripling Passengers, Expanding Flight Routes, and Enhancing Passenger Experience

Saudi Arabia aims to increase passenger numbers and expand flight routes in its aviation strategy.
The goals include tripling the number of passengers from 2019, handling 4.5 million tonnes of cargo, and establishing over 250 direct destinations.

To achieve these targets, the Kingdom is focusing on enhancing passenger experience through various regulatory programs.

Al-Dahmash discussed Saudi Arabia's "total quality evaluation" or "air total quality evaluation" program, which aims to enhance the passenger experience at airports from entry to boarding.

The country's aviation strategy includes four sub-programs: the first focuses on reducing waiting times through operational standards, the second prioritizes traveler feedback and satisfaction, the third ensures infrastructure readiness by inspecting over 1,300 items annually per terminal, and the fourth addresses passengers' complaints and improves responsiveness and resolution.

These initiatives have shown progress since 2019, and the country is continuing efforts to meet its 2030 targets.

The text discusses the significant investment opportunities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's aviation sector, which aligns with the national aviation strategy's goals.

The investments amount to $100 billion, with half of this targeted towards airport infrastructure development.

Mohammed Al-Khuraisi, the executive vice president of strategy and business intelligence at the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), mentioned the expansion of King Salman Airport from 40 million to 120 million capacity and the $40 billion investments in airlines.

Saudia and Riyadh Air have already announced the acquisition of around 105 and undisclosed numbers of aircrafts, respectively, and more aircraft acquisitions for passenger, cargo, and commercial airlines are expected.

Saudi Arabia is investing around $20 billion in the aviation industry, with $10 billion going towards services such as special economic zones, cargo logistics, general aviation, and ground handling, maintenance, repair, and catering.

This comprehensive approach supports the industry's expansion and development.

On the air connectivity front, Saudi Arabia aims to increase the number of destinations served by its airports from the current 149 to 250 by 2030.

In 2019, the country only had 99 destinations.

Ali Rajab, executive vice president of air transport and international cooperation at the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), made these announcements.

The text is about a conference focused on connectivity in the aviation industry, with around 73 airline representatives in attendance, as well as representatives from airports, logistics services, ground handlers, and catering companies.

The goal is to increase connectivity and bring the world closer together.

Saudi Arabia's Minister of Transport, Eng.

Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, expressed optimism that by 2030, Saudi Arabia will be the leading country in its region for aviation and will rank fifth globally in the industry.
