Saudi Arabia Launches First Public Arts and Culture Academy

Saudi Arabia Launches First Public Arts and Culture Academy

Government-run school aims to identify and develop talented young people across the Kingdom.

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's ministries of culture and education have collaborated to introduce an innovative educational initiative—the Arts and Culture Academy—marking a significant milestone in the nation's commitment to fostering artistic talent among its youth. This groundbreaking institution, the first of its kind within the government sector, aspires to cultivate the creative potential of students across various artistic disciplines.

The academy's primary objective is to provide a comprehensive educational experience that integrates accredited academic curricula with specialized cultural programs tailored to nurture the artistic inclinations of its students. In its inaugural year, the institution will operate in two major cities, Riyadh and Jeddah, targeting students from the fourth grade of primary school through the first grade of intermediate school.

Initially focusing on drawing, acting, music, and singing, the academy plans an expansion to cater to a broader demographic across all educational levels and regions within the Kingdom. The daily schedule is meticulously structured to balance academic requirements with intensive cultural activities, ensuring students receive both rigorous education and enriched artistic training.

To accommodate diverse talents, the school day is divided into morning and afternoon sessions—academic work in the mornings followed by culturally enriching activities in the afternoons. The initiative underscores a commitment to fostering well-rounded individuals who possess not only academic proficiency but also deep cultural competencies.

The Arts and Culture Academy will open its doors during the 2025/2026 academic year, initially offering places in Riyadh's Al-Nakheel district for boys and Jeddah's Al-Sheraa district for girls. Admission is a multi-stage process: candidates must first register online, undergo performance evaluations, and participate in interviews before receiving admission notifications. Seats are allocated based on availability.

Those interested in applying to the academy can find detailed information at engage.moc.gov.sa/cultural-talents-schools/#faq. The establishment of this cultural educational hub reflects Saudi Arabia's broader vision to promote arts and culture as integral components of national development.
