Saudi Arabia Establishes New Intellectual Property Prosecution Unit to Boost Innovation and Attract Foreign Investment
Saudi Arabia has created a new investigative body, the Intellectual Property Prosecution, to handle intellectual property litigation.
Experts believe this move will encourage innovative projects and attract foreign investment due to stronger intellectual property protections.
The Public Prosecution Council approved the establishment of the body in mid-February as part of the National Intellectual Property Strategy launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The Ministry of Justice described it as a key factor in achieving the goals of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property has established an Intellectual Property Prosecution unit to investigate and file criminal actions related to breaches of trademark, copyright, patents, topography for integrated circuits, plant varieties, and industrial models.
This move is intended to strengthen the legal protection of intellectual property and attract international innovators and inventors.
The unit will be staffed with qualified public prosecutors trained to handle such cases.
According to Abdullah Alakeel, chairman of the Saudi Scientific Research and Innovation Association, this development will create an environment that attracts international technologies and innovators.
Abdullah Al-Hamed, an investment advisor at GIB Capital, believes that the establishment of a new intellectual property body in Saudi Arabia will ensure the safety and security of inventors' rights.
This body is expected to provide clear laws and regulations, protecting the financial and intellectual property of creators and innovative companies.
This development is seen as a positive shift in the intellectual property landscape of Saudi Arabia.
