Saudi Arabia and Syria Strengthen Industrial Cooperation through New Economic Integration Plans
The two nations establish joint working groups to advance economic integration and cooperation in the industrial sector.
In a move to bolster collaboration in the industrial sector, Saudi Arabia and Syria have announced plans to strengthen their economic integration.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef and Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Mohammed Nidal Al-Shaar in Riyadh.
The discussions focused on fostering joint investments, facilitating knowledge exchange, and exploring opportunities for industrial integration.
The announcement came after both countries signed an agreement to protect and promote mutual investments during the Saudi-Syrian roundtable.
Alkhorayef stated that this meeting lays the foundation for increased cooperation between the two nations, reflecting their shared history and commitment to economic partnership.
The meeting also touched on the Kingdom's National Industrial Strategy and its role in shaping industrial integration frameworks with Arab nations.
During the meeting, Alkhorayef highlighted several agreements signed at the Saudi-Syrian Investment Forum held in Damascus in July.
These included collaborations in vital sectors such as industry and mining, which are seen as crucial steps towards revitalizing Syria's economy and ensuring sustainable growth.
Alkhorayef also invited Al-Shaar to attend the 21st General Conference of the UN Industrial Development Organization in Riyadh later this year.
The Syrian minister expressed his country's readiness to strengthen industrial partnerships with Saudi Arabia, particularly in light of Syria's ongoing reconstruction efforts.
He emphasized that these initiatives offer unique opportunities for Saudi private sector investments in the industrial field.
As a result of their discussions, both sides agreed to form joint technical working groups to follow up on industrial integration initiatives and ensure practical implementation of agreed measures.
