Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan Discuss Climate Change Collaboration at COP29 Preparations
Saudi Arabia's Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, met with Azerbaijan's Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev, on Thursday.
Babayev is also the president of the upcoming UN COP29 climate talks in Baku, Nov. Prince Abdulaziz and Babayev discussed potential collaboration between their countries on climate change issues and working towards the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and Paris Agreement goals.
The text discusses the Kingdom's actions to address climate change through various initiatives.
These efforts include exploring renewable energy sources and reducing emissions through Saudi and Middle Eastern green programs.
The ministers also discussed implementing the circular carbon economy approach, a technology developed by the Kingdom during its G20 presidency, to manage carbon emissions.
