Saudi and Azerbaijani Ministers Discuss Climate Action Collaboration at COP29 Preparations in Jeddah
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Saudi Minister of Energy, held a meeting with Mukhtar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, in Jeddah.
Notably, Babayev is also the president of the upcoming 29th Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Climate Conventions (COP29), which is scheduled to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan's capital, in November.
During their discussion, the ministers explored potential avenues for collaboration in the realm of climate action.
They focused on aligning their efforts to achieve the objectives and principles of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement.
The Saudi and Azerbaijani ministers also examined the Kingdom's initiatives and endeavors aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change.
These include the adoption of renewable energy sources, implementing projects to manage, reduce, and eliminate emissions through initiatives like 'Saudi Green' and 'Middle East Green,' and applying the circular economy approach to carbon and its related technologies.
Additionally, they discussed various national and regional programs and initiatives underway in the Kingdom.
