Mass assault on Ukrainian capital marks the first major combined Russian attack since the US-Russia summit in Alaska.
A devastating Russian drone and missile assault on Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, early Thursday resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals and left an additional twenty-four people injured.
Among those killed was a 14-year-old girl, as reported by Tymur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv’s city administration, who cited preliminary findings indicating that the casualty numbers may rise.
The assault targeted over two dozen locations across the capital, causing widespread destruction and necessitating rescue efforts to free individuals trapped beneath debris.
A prominent example of this destruction includes a five-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district which was hit directly, with Tkachenko describing the scene as 'everything is destroyed.'
This latest attack marks the first major combined Russian mass drone and missile assault on Kyiv since US President
Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska earlier this month to negotiate an end to the ongoing three-year conflict.
Despite diplomatic efforts that initially appeared promising following this meeting, little progress has been made public regarding future steps.
In response to Russia's continued aggression, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is advocating for more stringent US sanctions against Russia, aiming to weaken its economy if President Putin does not demonstrate a genuine commitment to ending the war.
