Riyadh's Art Biennale Highlights Saudi Eastern Artists
Prominent artist Abdulrahman Al-Soliman's ink drawing collection shines at Riyadh's Art Biennale.
The exhibition, featuring top artists from Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, includes Al-Soliman's works, which are displayed for the first time. Created during the Gulf War, his pieces including "Palm, Bow and Fragments" reflect the period's impact.
Born in Al-Ahsa in 1954, Al-Soliman's artistic journey began in the 1970s. Among the works being presented, Nabila Al-Bassam, a mixed-media artist and founder of Alkhobar's Arab Heritage Gallery, also showcases her collages combining traditional textiles.
Impressed by the representation of Saudi women artists at the event, Al-Bassam noted the innovation and scale of new works. The younger generation is represented by Tara Aldugaither, who brings forward the Arab women's musical history through her platform Sawtasura.
The Biennale runs until May 24 in Riyadh’s JAX district, offering a slice of contemporary artistic expression from Saudi's eastern talent.
