Qatar's Manufacturing Sector Boosts GDP by $7.25bn in H1

The sector contributed to the nation’s gross domestic product and showed strong industrial growth, trade expansion, and digital business reforms.
In Jeddah, it has been reported that Qatar's manufacturing sector significantly contributed 26.84 billion Qatari riyals ($7.25 billion) to the nation’s gross domestic product in the first half of 2025.

This substantial contribution underscores a period of strong industrial growth, trade expansion, and digital business reforms within the country.

The data published by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry indicates that the sector added 13.44 billion riyals in the second quarter alone.

The gains can be attributed to Qatar’s National Manufacturing Strategy 2024–2030, which aims at generating 70.5 billion riyals in value-added production, boosting non-hydrocarbon exports to 49 billion riyals, and attracting 2.75 billion riyals in annual industrial investments by 2030.

This strategy comprises 15 initiatives and 60 projects focused on advancing smart manufacturing, enhancing research capabilities, and aligning education with industry requirements.

The recent entry into force of the Qatar–Turkiye economic and trade partnership agreement, which took effect on August 1, 2025, has further bolstered trade exchange and eased investment restrictions.

Furthermore, the Ministry launched a digital platform to showcase public-private partnership projects and introduced 20 new e-services related to licensing, market monitoring, competition protection, consumer rights, and anti-commercial fraud.

The introduction of the 'My Companies' mobile service and a voluntary mergers and acquisitions review program in the third quarter also marked significant advancements within the sector.

Trade indicators reveal strong momentum with new commercial registrations rising 81.5 percent year on year, active registrations increasing by 18.1 percent, and company setup time being reduced to two days.

Active commercial licenses increased by 6.8 percent while 4,631 non-Qatari companies were established during this period.

The single-window platform added five e-services, processed 72,500 transactions — 89 percent electronically—and achieved a high level of customer satisfaction at 94 percent.

The Ministry successfully identified and resolved 35 percent of the challenges facing the private sector and studied 12 public-private partnership projects in 2025, with three more than in Q2, and launched four new projects and one awarded in Q3.

In consumer affairs, there was a significant increase of 30.87 percent in specialized licenses issued compared to the third quarter of 2024, with processing time reduced to one day.

Additionally, the time required to process price-adjustment requests for goods and services decreased, and beneficiaries of ration services rose by 2.61 percent year on year, while fodder distributors surged by 96.9 percent.
