Palestinian Teen Receives Medical Treatment in the UK After Suffering Severe Injuries
15-year-old Majd Alshagnobi arrives in London for life-saving care following Israeli attack in Gaza.
A 15-year-old Palestinian boy, Majd Alshagnobi, has expressed his gratitude after being transported to the UK for essential medical treatment.
Suffering severe injuries in February 2024 due to an Israeli tank shell explosion near him, he lost significant portions of his face and jaw, as well as all of his teeth.
His mother, Islam, recalled the harrowing initial moments when medics performed a life-saving operation in the hospital kitchen because all operating rooms were occupied.
Majd's case has garnered attention as he is the third Gazan child evacuated to the UK for medical care since the outbreak of war in October 2023, facilitated by the charity Project Pure Hope.
More than 5,000 children from Gaza have sought treatment abroad, primarily in Egypt and the Gulf.
The UK government's role in aiding these children has been called into question, with Omar Din, co-founder of Project Pure Hope, urging for more concrete actions to be taken following recent assurances by Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
