Off-duty NYPD Officer Fatally Shoots Man Pointing Fake Gun on Staten Island

On August 16, an off-duty New York Police Department officer responded to a 911 call regarding a man with what appeared to be a firearm at the back of a diner on Staten Island.
The officer, along with another off-duty colleague who had also spotted the suspect, attempted to de-escalate the situation multiple times before one of them fired, resulting in the death of the individual.
The scene was captured on surveillance video, showing that the man pointed what turned out to be an imitation firearm at the officers.
Despite performing life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital.
