New York State’s attorney general, Letitia James, urged the public to submit photos, videos, and other documentation of federal immigration operations to her office for review.

This request comes in the wake of a significant raid targeting Manhattan street vendors on Tuesday.

According to reports, the operation resulted in the arrest of nine individuals, including some with prior criminal records, from countries such as Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, and Guinea.

Four people were also arrested for allegedly assaulting law enforcement officers and one for obstruction of justice.

The raid sparked controversy over concerns regarding potential abuses by federal agents and the use of racial profiling in immigration enforcement.

Critics argue that ICE operations often target immigrants with no criminal histories, leading to widespread fear and intimidation within communities.

In response to these concerns, James emphasized that her office will review the submitted footage and information through a ‘Federal Action Reporting Form,’ highlighting the importance of transparency and accountability in such operations.

Additionally, US Representative Robert Garcia, a Democrat from Los Angeles, announced plans to launch an online platform aimed at tracking ICE activities and encouraging citizens to document any potential abuses by federal immigration officers.

The efforts by James and Garcia reflect a broader resistance strategy employed by Democrats against the Trump administration's aggressive immigration policies.

However, these initiatives have been met with criticism from government officials, including a statement from the Department of Homeland Security characterizing them as ‘obstruction of justice.’ This political tension is further exacerbated by ongoing legal battles between the New York attorney general and President Donald Trump.
