New Scheme Empowers Youth in Traditional Arts
The Crafts Market program in Jazan teaches young people traditional craftsmanship and fosters creativity.
Riyadh, October 25, 2025: A new initiative has been launched in the region of Jazan to teach young individuals traditional crafts and enhance their creative skills.
The Saudi Press Agency reported on this project, which is a collaborative effort between the Alrowad Youth Association and the Cultural House under the Heritage Commission.
The Crafts Market program offers workshops led by esteemed local artisans, providing attendees with hands-on experience and expert guidance.
These workshops are scheduled to take place every Friday and Saturday at the Cultural House until the end of November, according to the SPA.
Participants in the program have the opportunity to explore various crafts, including pottery, sculpture, painting, candle and perfume making, leatherwork, embroidery, jewelry production, and accessory creation.
In addition to honing their artistic skills, the workshops also cover practical aspects such as branding and product packaging, equipping young people with the knowledge necessary to turn their crafts into viable businesses.
Recently, the Cultural House organized a pottery-making workshop aimed at reviving traditional crafts that reflect the region's rich heritage.
The course encompassed the entire production cycle, starting from clay extraction and processing through shaping, firing, and glazing, all utilizing eco-friendly materials.
Attendees also gained knowledge on identifying different types of clay, preparing raw materials, implementing designs, and operating a traditional kiln.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to preserve and promote Saudi Arabia's cultural heritage by empowering the younger generation with skills in traditional arts.
