NEOM CARE Launches Initiative to Support Innovators in the Food Industry
NEOM CARE’s, a collaborative venture between Saudi Arabia's NEOM innovation hub and the international CARE's project, recently introduced a manifesto for sustainable gastronomy and food security. This announcement was made at the three-Michelin star Atelier Moessmer, operated by chef Norbert Niederkofler in Bruneck, Italy.
The manifesto outlines a strategy to significantly influence Saudi Arabia's food landscape through six principles centered on leadership, facilities, resource management, food supply, a circular economy, and communication. Alongside, the NEOM CARE’s Award has been created to acknowledge and celebrate professionals who are pioneering sustainability and innovation in the food sector globally.
The Award Council is co-led by Niederkofler and Juan Carlos Motamayor, NEOM's food sector executive director. It includes distinguished figures like chef Dominque Crenn and several prominent academics and professionals.
According to Motamayor, the partnership aligns with NEOM's goals of spurring innovation and sustainability, setting international standards for food professionals. The NEOM CARE’s Award is geared towards empowering culinary talent with sustainable methods to engender impactful change.
Niederkofler expressed pride in launching the initiative, praising the manifesto and the award as tools to inspire the adoption of sustainable innovation in the culinary world, ultimately contributing to food security through the use of fresh, local produce.
This initiative reaffirms NEOM’s dedication to sustainable development and innovation, aiming to shape a generation of culinary experts committed to sustainable food practices.
