The director of the Metropolitan Health Region, Israel Cedeño, confirmed Thursday, May 7, that there has been 91 COVID-19 infections at the Women's Rehabilitation Center 91 Covid-19, and that all inmates will be tested.
Together with the Ministry of Government and Justice they have created a strategy to take them to a hotel. He specified that initially the first inmates who tested positive were at the transitional youth center in Las Garzas, but in order to separate them, all will be transferred to a hotel for better control.
The prison population, as of March 2020, was 653.
Cedeño, along with his work team, inspected commercial establishments to make sure that they are complying with the provisions established by the Ministry of Health (
Minsa) regarding the number of people who can enter, the distance they must have between them in the ranks and availability of alcoholic gel for customers.
Cedeño explained that the visitors to the prison are complying with the regulations, which means that the message sent by the
Minsa is getting through properly.
Those establishments that do not comply are not being penalized the first or the second time, because they are aware that this is a new behavior scenario, to which they must adapt.
If after several verifications they do not comply, they can be sanctioned with fines ranging up to $ 500 and suspension of activity, added
Cedeño.
