RIYADH — The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has announced updated technical requirements and specifications for motor vehicle periodic inspection facilities.
This move is part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, improve the urban landscape, and increase investment attractiveness in the vehicle-related technical services sector. The classifications are divided into four categories based on capacity, number of inspection lanes, and type of vehicles inspected.
These include facilities dedicated to inspecting trucks, trailers, and vehicles carrying hazardous materials, as well as mobile technical inspection vehicles equipped with specialized systems.Updated requirements cover precise standards related to site design, spaces, and parking spaces, architectural and technical aspects including ventilation, air conditioning, lighting systems, fire prevention systems, adherence to the Saudi Building Code, and comprehensive accessibility standards for people with disabilities.Operational requirements include installing surveillance cameras, providing electronic payment methods, identification signs, and displaying licenses with digital codes.
Additionally, facilities must maintain regular maintenance, general cleaning, waste control, and adhere to the guidelines set by relevant authorities.
Investors are prohibited from engaging in activities outside of those listed in their license and are restricted from using sidewalks and public facilities without obtaining an operational permit.Mechanisms have been established to address complaints and grievances, ensuring fair application and transparent procedures.
The ministry emphasized that these requirements constitute an integrated regulatory framework, setting clear standards for establishing and operating technical inspection facilities.
This is aimed at meeting investor aspirations, enhancing the quality of services provided to beneficiaries, and increasing compliance efficiency in this vital sector. These updates align with Saudi Vision 2030 goals, aiming to enhance vehicle inspection facility efficiency, promote traffic safety and urban planning, and improve the quality of technical services offered to beneficiaries.
