Kuwait Launches Digital Skills Initiative with Microsoft
Program aims to equip citizens with AI, cloud computing skills amid national development goals.
Kuwait has initiated a national training program titled 'Kuwait Skills' in collaboration with Microsoft and the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT).
The initiative is designed to enhance digital capabilities by equipping Kuwaiti citizens with expertise in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and Microsoft Copilot tools.
This move aligns with the nation's 'New Kuwait 2035' vision, aimed at fostering a digitally empowered workforce.
The program comes on the heels of Microsoft's earlier announcement to establish an AI-powered Azure cloud region in Kuwait.
This development is expected to bolster national infrastructure and support Kuwait's ambition to become a regional technology hub.
The partnership extends beyond training, aiming for a holistic transformation that includes access to global education, recognized certifications, and career development opportunities.
Omar Al-Omar, the Minister of State for Communications Affairs, highlighted the initiative’s importance in aligning with Kuwait's digital ecosystem goals.
He emphasized empowering professionals with advanced technical skills as crucial for positioning Kuwait as a leader in the digital economy.
Microsoft’s Charles Nahas, regional general manager for the Middle East, noted that the program targets training more than 30,000 employees, 4,000 technical experts, and 350 leaders on AI and cloud technologies.
The initiative also aims to enable over 100,000 users to utilize Copilot tools through a new Center of Excellence developed in partnership with CAIT.
The program is part of a shared vision focused on accelerating innovation, enhancing cybersecurity, and expanding Kuwait's digital economy for both public institutions and private enterprises.
Quarterly reports will track the initiative's progress, assessing training outcomes and measurable gains in digital capacity.
