Jordan Air Force Aids Gaza Amidst Tensions; Iran Links Bank Network with Russia

Jordan's air force delivers crucial supplies to Gaza amidst aid restrictions, while Iran links its Shetab network with Russia's Mir to bypass sanctions.
Jordan's air force has once again come to the aid of Palestinians in Gaza with its latest airdrop of essential supplies, including food, water, and medical provisions, amidst ongoing aid restrictions. Since October last year, Jordan has completed numerous airdrops, often collaborating with nations like France and the UK, to bypass impediments on land convoys.

In financial news, Iran has strategically linked its Shetab network with Russia's Mir, enabling Iranian bank cards to function in Russia and bypass international sanctions, marking a significant step since Iran's exclusion from the SWIFT system in 2018. This network could soon extend to other nations closely allied with Iran, such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, in Lebanon, artists like Charbel Samuel Aoun are channeling the turmoil from the ongoing conflict into their work, despite the devastating impact on the country’s art scene. These creators are finding new ways to sustain themselves, with Aoun even turning to honey sales amid a declining art market.

Shifting focus to Jerusalem, tensions have risen at the Al-Aqsa compound during the Sukkot festival, as Israeli far-right actions disrupted the site's traditional status quo. The controversial activities, which restricted Muslim access, have drawn international criticism and could potentially escalate violence.

In related news, the Biden administration will continue arms support for Israel, acknowledging some progress in Gaza aid while facing criticism over limited aid access. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has been in talks with Israeli officials, stressing the importance of facilitating humanitarian improvements amid ongoing military restrictions.

Lastly, Saudi Arabia remains dedicated to fostering peace and reconstruction in Yemen, as highlighted in recent discussions between Saudi Commander Lt. Gen. Fahd bin Hamad Al-Salman and UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg. The Kingdom is committed to supporting humanitarian efforts and pushing political initiatives towards a comprehensive resolution to the Yemeni crisis.
