The World Economic Forum’s Global Collaboration Village (GCV) introduced its Next-Gen platform at the annual meeting in Davos, powered by Microsoft Mesh and developed in collaboration with Accenture.
The platform aims to extend the collaborative impact of Davos throughout the year by using augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies to address global issues.
Chieh Huang, president of the initiative, emphasized the goal of creating a virtual space for year-round engagement, which would complement the in-person interactions at the annual gathering.
Huang highlighted the importance of user feedback in shaping the platform, which offers photorealistic graphics and immersive AR and VR experiences.
The platform enables users to engage in 3D environments, facilitating deeper conversation and collaboration between public and private entities.
Initial feedback from participants at Davos has been positive, with many expressing amazement at the advanced hardware and software.
The Next-Gen platform aims for inclusivity and is device-neutral, being available on both Meta and Apple devices, with plans to support additional devices in the future.
Saudi Arabia used the platform to showcase its Vision 2030 initiative at the WEF, offering an innovative way to demonstrate the Kingdom’s transformation efforts.
