Germany Expresses Solidarity with Israel Following Iran's War
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt's visit marks the first high-level diplomatic engagement since the conflict.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt visited the site of an Iranian missile strike near Tel Aviv, expressing his support for Israel amid the destruction left by this month’s 12-day war between Iran and Israel.
The conflict concluded after a ceasefire was announced on Tuesday.
In Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv, where an Iranian attack killed nine people including three children, Dobrindt emphasized that Germany must deepen its backing for Israel.
This visit marks the first high-level foreign engagement since the war's onset on June 13, when Israel initiated airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, according to Israeli claims, which Tehran denies.
The international community has been urged by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar to reinstate sanctions against Iran.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz previously stated that Israel is performing 'dirty work' for the global community by targeting Iran's nuclear capabilities.
Throughout the conflict, Israel was hit with over 50 missiles resulting in 28 deaths; however, the exact impact of the war remains uncertain due to strict media restrictions.
In contrast, official figures from Iran report at least 627 civilian casualties and nearly 4,900 injuries caused by Israeli strikes.
