Estonian FM Condemns Doha Strike, Reaffirms Two-State Support
Estonia's Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has strongly condemned Israel's airstrike on Doha, emphasizing the violation of sovereignty and warning against erosion of international law.
Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has expressed strong condemnation towards Israel’s recent airstrike on the Qatari capital, Doha.
This attack, which targeted senior Hamas leaders amidst ongoing ceasefire discussions, resulted in six fatalities including a Qatari security officer.
According to international criticism and Qatar's stance, this event is considered a grave violation of global legal norms.
During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Tsahkna communicated Estonia’s position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
He emphasized that Estonia has consistently supported the two-state solution as the only viable path towards resolving the longstanding conflict.
However, he noted the lack of progress and goodwill in this direction, further complicated by the recent attack on Qatar.
The countries of Saudi Arabia, along with others in the region, have been instrumental in facilitating negotiations.
Estonia is expected to join the declaration on two states at the upcoming UN General Assembly.
Additionally, Tsahkna expressed optimism regarding the forthcoming Saudi-French summit in New York that aims to address these issues.
The foreign minister’s statements reflect a growing international stance amid calls for sanctions and partial trade suspensions against Israel from figures like European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen over the war in Gaza.
