Saudi Arabia's Fourth Industrial Revolution Center Discusses the Future of Quantum Technologies and Their Applications
The Fourth Industrial Revolution Center in Saudi Arabia, affiliated with the World Economic Forum, in collaboration with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology and King Salman Science Oasis, will organize a scientific event next Wednesday on the future of quantum technologies and their applications in the Kingdom, and the role of education and awareness in adopting them.
This comes in celebration of World Quantum Day, which falls on April 14th each year.
The two-day event aims to raise awareness of the rapid impact of quantum technologies like quantum computing, quantum sensing, and quantum communications and their applications across various economic sectors and in enhancing sustainable development. It also emphasizes the importance of expanding quantum science disciplines in university education and incorporating its concepts into general education curricula to prepare future generations for a workforce in a quantum-driven economy.
The event will feature dialog sessions with officials, businesspeople, and academics. The first session, titled "Enhancing Quantum Sciences, Technology, and Innovation in the Kingdom," will discuss the challenges and opportunities quantum technologies present for economic growth and sustainable development, and the pivotal role of research, development, and innovation in a successful quantum technology-based economy.
The second dialogue, "The Role of Education and Awareness in Quantum Leap," will focus on developing specializations in quantum science and technology education, developing strategies to convey complex quantum concepts to school students, and initiatives to build awareness to foster a better understanding of quantum sciences and technologies. It also underscores the significance of media and awareness programs in increasing quantum economy awareness.
In the third session, "The Rise of the Quantum Economy - and Its Implications for the Kingdom," participants will explore the ways through which Saudi Arabia can position itself as a leading nation in emerging technologies. They will highlight the immense potential of quantum computing in accelerating innovation and research in key industries and how the Kingdom can be among the first adopters of such technologies, giving companies a competitive edge in quantum computing. Additionally, the session will discuss creating a quantum ecosystem to attract global investors and top talents and using quantum technologies to address national challenges.
The event will also include an exhibition featuring several local and international companies to showcase the latest developments in quantum technologies and their applications in communications, computing, and sensors. There will also be live and virtual presentations on quantum science, its origins, fundamental concepts, and its impact on our daily calculations.
