The project enhances traffic safety and the quality of life by providing better access to and through Diriyah and Riyadh.

A ceremony to inaugurate the 435-meter tunnel, which spans eight lanes in both directions, was attended by Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser, Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami, Ahmed Al-Balowi, and Diriyah Co. CEO Jerry Inzerillo.

Inzerillo emphasized the significance of the tunnel as a precursor to many infrastructure enhancements, including the largest park in the Kingdom and a massive parking facility in Diriyah Square, aiming to transform Diriyah into a top cultural and urban hub.

He expressed gratitude towards the Riyadh Traffic Police and the Riyadh Municipality for their support, and to Arab News, he shared the vision of preserving Diriyah's historical significance while developing a modern city to accommodate millions of visitors.

The project, which took over 7 million work hours to build and can handle more than 10,280 vehicles per hour, overcame challenges such as the diversion of heavy traffic without causing disruptions.

The tunnel also facilitates works for the largest land bridge between Diriyah's western and eastern parts and supports the construction of the underground gyratory road.
