Al-Ahsa Finalizes $400m Deals for Tourism and Services Expansion
Saudi municipality signs five investment contracts to boost local development projects.
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Al-Ahsa municipality has officially concluded five major investment agreements worth SR1.5 billion ($400 million) aimed at advancing a suite of development initiatives across the region.
These deals were signed in front of Governor Prince Saud bin Talal and Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing Majed Al-Hogail, with the intention to enhance municipal services and improve quality of life for residents within Saudi Arabia's second-largest governorate.
The signed agreements encompass various projects designed to elevate the region's infrastructure.
Notably, these include developments at Jabal Abu Hsais tourist resort, construction of a vehicle appraisal center, establishment of periodic vehicle inspection facilities, redevelopment of King Abdullah Cultural Center, and creation of a date processing factory in Al-Ahsa.
Collectively, these projects are part of broader efforts to diversify the local economy and attract investment into the governorate.
Al-Ahsa Governor Prince Saud highlighted that these initiatives represent a cornerstone within the region's overarching development strategy, thereby supporting national goals aimed at sustainability through strategic planning and optimal utilization of Al-Ahsa's cultural and economic assets.
Moreover, three memoranda of understanding were signed to implement 11 projects focused on parks and urban enhancements under the "Bahja" project and Saudi Green Initiative, with commitments from leading national companies such as the National Housing Co., Retal Urban Development, and contributions from Abdullah Al-Abdulqader.
The agreements mark a significant step towards achieving the municipality's objectives to deliver projects that promote community welfare, foster sustainable growth aligned with Vision 2030, and establish productive partnerships between public and private sectors.
To showcase these initiatives, an exhibition titled "Al-Ahsa: Future and Development" was inaugurated by Prince Saud and the Minister, providing a platform for showcasing services, infrastructure projects, and quality of life enhancements.
This period also witnessed a substantial increase in tourism activities within Al-Ahsa, with visitor numbers surging 500% to reach 3.2 million in 2024 compared to the previous year.
This surge led to an exceeding rise in total tourist spending which exceeded SR3.3 billion, demonstrating the region's growing appeal and the tangible impact of continued investment in infrastructure and services.
