Victory becomes the sweetest for Al-Marzouki with a warm touch of motherly affection

No words could express the intensity of emotions of motherly affection when the mother of the Saudi Paralympic swimmer Ibrahim Al-Marzouki saw her son winning a medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games.
Hence, the pictures of Ibrahim Al-Marzouki’s mother wiping off his sweaty face and preparing him to stand up in the victory podium to be crowned with a bronze medal went viral on social media.

Those who commented on these elegant moments included Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, minister of sports and president of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, saying on Monday that the Islamic Solidarity Games holds beautiful messages and meanings. Prince Abdulaziz expressed his pride over the swimmer’s mother and her son, saying: “We are very proud of you and your champion son."

Al-Marzouqi has won the bronze medal in the 50-Meter Butterfly final with a time of 49:12 seconds in the Fifth Islamic Solidarity Games "Konya 2022". His mother was among those who gathered at the stadium to cheer and celebrated the victory of Al-Marzouki. She soon rushed to congratulate him and prepare him to receive the medal after wiping off his sweaty face.

Konya Islamic Solidarity Games 2022 officially launched on Tuesday in Konya city, Turkiye, with the participation of 54 Islamic countries and will run through until August 18.

More than 130 male and female players will represent the Kingdom in the competitions including 3×3 women’s basketball, darts, gymnastics, athletics, fencing, football, handball, judo, karate, archery, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting, wrestling, and Paralympic swimming.
