The United Nations (UN) spoke highly of Kazakhstan’s peacekeeping activities as Kazakhstan continues to actively work in implementing of the Code of Conduct towards Achieving World free of Terrorism. The document was developed at the initiative of the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev while working at the UN Security Council.

The main purpose of the Code of Conduct is to create a broad international coalition of partner countries on combating terrorism and to achieve, by the centenary of the UN, the world free of terrorism in 2045.

Permanent observer of the African Union to the UN, Fatima Mohammed, highlighted Kazakhstan’s contribution in countering terrorism. “The issues of peace, security and development are interconnected.

When it comes to those that are actually recruited into these terrorist groups, fundamentally, they are drawn at least from the African continent due to development deficits, so it is fundamentally important for us”.

“We recognize and commend the efforts of Kazakhstan mission and of course the UN department for counter-terrorism for organizing this,” she said.
