UAE President Receives Concerned Calls from Jordan's King Abdullah and Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Amid Unprecedented Rainfall and Flooding
On Friday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), received telephone calls from King Abdullah of Jordan and Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The leaders expressed their concerns over the severe weather conditions, particularly the unusually heavy rainfall, that have affected parts of the UAE this week.
The storms, which included unprecedented rainfall and flooding, hit the UAE and its neighbor Oman on Tuesday.
More than 250 millimeters of rain fell in certain areas of the Emirates, which is significantly more than the usual annual rainfall.
Dubai International Airport was forced to close temporarily due to flooded runways.
During the calls, King Abdullah and Prime Minister Sharif conveyed their best wishes to the UAE as it recovers from the storms.
They also expressed their hopes for the safety and prosperity of the UAE and its people, offering prayers for their protection from any harm.
Sheikh Mohammed thanked both leaders for their warm sentiments and emphasized the strong bonds between the UAE and their nations.
The UAE government has been working to mitigate the effects of the storms and ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens.
