Saudi Authority Investigates Price Manipulation in Breast-Milk Substitutes
Investigations in Saudi Arabia reveal alleged price manipulation by four firms selling breast-milk substitutes. Legal actions are ongoing, with various sectors under scrutiny for violating competition laws. Settlement negotiations are also underway with offending companies.
The General Authority for Competition in Saudi Arabia has launched an investigation into four companies alleged to have fixed prices for breast-milk substitutes, potentially violating Saudi Competition Law and its executive regulations.
Legal actions are being pursued against six other firms ordered to rectify their offenses.
The council also examined and dismissed cases against two entities in the communications and IT sector due to insufficient evidence.
However, investigations are continuing for four other firms in the same sector, three in the contracting sector, and several in the Hajj and Umrah services sector for alleged violations.
Measures against nine establishments in the water desalination and distribution sector were terminated.
Additionally, 27 settlement requests from offenders, including 10 from the automotive sector, were reviewed, empowering the authority's CEO to negotiate settlements or pursue legal actions if necessary.
