Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s upcoming entertainment and sports city, Qiddiya, has revealed plans for an 18-hole golf course crafted by renowned golfer Sir Nick Faldo.
Located along the 200-meter-high cliffs of the Tuwaiq Mountains, this course marks a significant step in developing golf infrastructure across the Kingdom, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).The introduction of the new course is part of Qiddiya’s strategy to bolster its golf offerings and align with its broader vision to become a major player in sports and entertainment.
This initiative gains further momentum through its newly forged global partnership with the Faldo Series — considered the world's leading developmental pathway for young golfers.Sir Nick Faldo views this collaboration as a unique opportunity to influence the development of one of the world’s most ambitious urban models, where modern lifestyles converge with sports, entertainment, and culture.
He added that by teaming up with Qiddiya City, they aim to establish a vibrant society eager to explore new sporting experiences.The golf course is designed to cater to both seasoned professionals and beginners, offering diverse playing options and state-of-the-art facilities.
Features include evening lighting for night play and structured training programs tailored to Saudi talent.
Emphasizing sustainability, the design seamlessly blends traditional golf elements with modern features intended to broaden participation across different skill levels.Beyond its sporting focus, Qiddiya envisions the course as a central community hub, complete with fitness and wellness centers, social spaces, pools, restaurants, and cafes.
A striking architectural centerpiece — a green-covered structure accessible to the public — will serve as a key gathering spot for events and activities, linking various facilities such as the golf club, sports and social complex, and the high-level golf training academy.Qiddiya City is envisioned as an expansive destination with over 20 master-planned districts dedicated to entertainment, sports, culture, housing, commerce, and hospitality.
It includes several other notable developments under its umbrella, including the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, anticipated to host international sports and entertainment events like the 2034 FIFA World Cup; a
