Saudi Arabia to host first post-Covid concerts to celebrate 90th National Day

Saudi Arabia is to host its first concerts since the outbreak of the coronavirus, with a series of performances planned to mark the country’s 90th National Day this month.

Concerts will take place across the country, beginning in Jeddah on Tuesday, September 22, with a performance by Emirati singer Ahlam. The former Arab Idol judge will play King Abdullah Sports City, marking the first concert in the kingdom since March.

Following the announcement on Sunday, Ahlam tweeted to say: "I'm coming over to you, people of Jeddah."


On Wednesday, September 23 – Saudi National Day – Abadi Al-Jawhar and Dalia Mubarak will play a joint concert in the same venue, followed by a performance from Angham and Tamer Ashour on Thursday, September 24.

Egyptian singer Mohamed Hamaki will play on Friday, September 25, before his countryman Amr Diab concludes the Jeddah concerts on Saturday, September 26.


Riyadh


The capital will also host a series of concerts as part of the National Day celebrations, beginning with Iraq's Majed Al Mohandes, who will play King Fahd Cultural Centre on September 23.

The live music will continue with a performance from Rabeh Sager on Friday, September 25, also at the King Fahd Cultural Centre.

At Dammam’s Green Hall, Rashid Al Majid and Aseel Abu Bakr will perform a joint concert on September 23.

A limited number of seats will be available at each concert, with about 1,500 places for the Riyadh shows.

However, fans will also have the option to buy tickets to watch a live stream of the concert from home.

The concerts will be held in line with the Entertainment Authority's Covid-19 protocols, which will ensure social distancing is in place and health and safety measures are adhered to.

Tickets for Ahlam's Jeddah show will go on sale on Tuesday. Tickets for the other shows will go on sale later this week.
