GENEVA — Saudi Arabia has launched several initiatives aimed at addressing global challenges in computing, data, and algorithms, according to Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha.

Speaking at the 160th anniversary celebrations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, Alswaha emphasized the critical moment presented by the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technologies.

He noted existing gaps that require an urgent collective response.

The minister highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to ongoing efforts and the establishment of international partnerships aimed at bridging AI-related gaps and promoting digital inclusivity for all.

Alswaha stressed that collaboration is essential in shaping the future, preventing a divide between societies and nations, and leveraging modern technologies for comprehensive development.

During his visit to Switzerland, Alswaha held high-level meetings with UN ITU Secretary General Doreen Bogdan-Martin and other international leaders to discuss strengthening Saudi Arabia's global role in promoting AI inclusivity, innovation, and digital economy development.

Discussions covered topics such as partnerships in digital governance, AI, and telecommunications infrastructure.
