Saudi Arabia Experiences Extreme Cold Weather with Record Low Temperatures
Turaif Records -2°C as National Center of Meteorology Warns of Continued Cold Snap Across the Kingdom
The Turaif governorate in Saudi Arabia’s Northern Borders Region has recorded the lowest temperature in the kingdom at -2°C, according to a report from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).
This cold weather event has prompted warnings from the NCM about the persistence of low temperatures across most regions of Saudi Arabia, with forecasts indicating that minimum temperatures could drop below freezing.
The NCM has issued a statement regarding an anticipated very cold air mass that is set to impact Turaif, effective from Sunday and expected to last through the end of the week.
Meteorologists forecast that minimum temperatures in the region may vary from 0°C to -3°C.
In addition, the Saudi Press Agency has reported observations of frost crystals accumulating on vegetation in Turaif, illustrating the severity of the current winter weather conditions.
This phenomenon is consistent with the cold snaps that have affected various regions within the kingdom.
The NCM has also advised residents to take necessary precautions against the potential impacts of this cold weather, which includes reduced horizontal visibility due to fog noted particularly during early morning hours in the southern parts of the Eastern Province.
These weather patterns emphasize the broader climatic phenomena affecting the region as the winter season progresses.
