India Rejects Blame for Waziristan Attack by Pakistan
Pakistan's Army Accuses India of Blaming India for the Suicide Bombing in North Waziristan
India’s ministry of external affairs stated on Sunday its rejection of a statement by the Pakistani Army attributing responsibility for Saturday’s attack in Waziristan to India.
A suicide bomber targeted a Pakistani military convoy in Mir Ali, North Waziristan district, killing at least 13 soldiers and injuring three civilians, including two children and a woman, according to the Pakistan army’s account of events.
Fourteen militants were subsequently killed by the army during an operation in the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack as a 'cowardly act,' while Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Pakistani Army chief, vowed decisive retaliation against any attempts to destabilize Pakistan's internal security.
The incident has sparked concerns regarding the region’s history of harboring militant groups and the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India.
