New UAE alcohol delivery app CityDrinks announces Abu Dhabi launch

CityDrinks, an alcohol delivery app based in Abu Dhabi, is set to revolutionize the way residents of the emirate purchase their favorite beverages.

Following a successful legalization process, the app's founder and owner, Dominique Szymura, announced its official launch in an exclusive interview with Arabian Business.

CityDrinks has secured two crucial licenses that empower it to import and distribute a diverse selection of alcoholic beverages in Abu Dhabi, liberating it from restrictive agreements. This development was made possible with the support of the emirate's government, particularly the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).

To ensure a responsible and secure alcohol purchasing experience, customers using the CityDrinks app will undergo an ID and UAE Pass verification process. In Abu Dhabi, the legal requirement for purchasing alcohol is proof that the customer is over 21, and the app streamlines this process with a quick two-minute ID verification during purchase.

Moreover, CityDrinks takes compliance seriously. Delivery executives will conduct ID checks upon delivery, complying with regulations and securing customer data through encryption.

Residents of Yas Island and Khalifa City areas in Abu Dhabi will enjoy the convenience of the Express Delivery service, while Downtown Abu Dhabi residents can opt for the Standard Delivery option, offering a full range of products within a 2-hour delivery window.

The full operation of CityDrinks is expected to be up and running by mid-December, promising a seamless and accessible way for consumers to enjoy their preferred alcoholic beverages in Abu Dhabi.

When asked about the decision to launch in Abu Dhabi over Dubai, Szymura stated that Abu Dhabi's burgeoning population and the government's receptiveness to innovation were key factors. This strategic choice aligns with CityDrinks' mission and ethos.

While expansion plans to other emirates are on the horizon, the immediate focus remains on solidifying the app's presence and operations in Abu Dhabi. CityDrinks aims not only to provide a convenient delivery service but also to enrich the customer experience by offering a curated selection of drinks at the touch of a button, including a wide range of beer, wine, and spirits.

CityDrinks' entry into the Abu Dhabi market represents a significant step in modernizing the way residents purchase alcohol, providing a secure and efficient solution that connects consumers with their favorite beverages.
