Missing Saudi citizen Al-Anzi found dead in US lake

Missing Saudi citizen Al-Anzi found dead in US lake

The body of a young Saudi citizen, who went missing, was found dead in a lake in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.
The 29-year-old Abdulrahman Al-Anzi drowned in the lake, according to his brother Badr Falah Al-Anzi.

“The eyes shed tears and the heart grieves, and we only say what pleases our Lord. We are saddened by your departure, Abdulrahman. May Allah shower His mercy on my brother,” Badr said while speaking to Okaz/Saudi Gazette.

The deceased had left with his elder brother Badr for treatment in the United States nearly three months ago.

On Thursday evening, Jan. 26, he went out, with one of his relatives, for dinner in a restaurant, and while returning Abdulrahman stopped the car to go to the toilet behind a lake and left all his personal belongings including his mobile phone in the car.

He said he would be quick, but spent some time there, for a couple of minutes. But he was late and then disappeared without any trace.

Abdulrahman, a Saudi government employee, is survived by his wife and children. “I was informed of the disappearance of my brother at around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27,” Badr said.

His brother Badr and colleagues immediately informed the Saudi embassy and the consulate in the US about the disappearance of Abdulrahman.

A massive search was held to locate Abdulrahman, and that was in coordination with the concerned security authorities. Later, his body was found in the lake, Badr said.

Earlier on Saturday, Cleveland police said in a statement on its Twitter account that Abdulrahman was out with his friends in the downtown area Thursday night.

“He then went with a group to the East 9th Street Pier at approximately 2:30 a.m. to look at the water.”

When the group wanted to leave, Abdulrahman reportedly walked away from them, the police and local FOX 8 News reported. The group tried searching for Abdulrahman but didn’t find him, the police said.

The police had put out a notice for anyone with information to call 911 or 216-621-1234. Abdulrahman was last seen wearing a beige jacket and pants and police said he does not speak English.

Abdulrahman’s demise comes a few days after Saudi citizen Al-Walid Al-Gharbi was murdered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The 25-year-old scholarship student was allegedly stabbed to death in his apartment building by 19-year-old woman Nicole Marie Rodgers from Georgia.

Rodgers is in police’s custody and has been charged with premeditated murder, theft, and several other charges.
