Kuwaiti Embassy in India organizes annual Iftar project; 2,200 food baskets distributed

The Embassy of the State of Kuwait in India announced on Sunday the implementation of the annual Iftar project under the supervision of the General Secretariat of Endowments, with a generous donation from philanthropists in Kuwait.
The embassy said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that it has coordinated with many Indian charities in various states within the framework of the “Kuwait by your side” campaign, by distributing more than 2,200 baskets containing basic foodstuffs to a large number of Indian families.

Kuwait’s Ambassador to India Jassem Al-Najem expressed his thanks to the Kuwaiti authorities, especially the General Secretariat of Endowments and the Kuwaiti people, who loved charitable work and provided assistance to the needy. Al-Najem stated that the Iftar project in India for the current year is the largest compared to previous years, as about 42 tons of foodstuffs were distributed, and that the project did not stop even in the darkest conditions that India experienced last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For his part, Secretary-General of Al-Ghazali Charitable Society, Abdulaziz Al-Azami, one of the associations implementing the project this year, expressed his appreciation to the State of Kuwait and its charitable institutions for continuing to provide support to needy families. The needy individuals and families that received the food baskets expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Kuwait, especially in light of the difficult circumstances accompanying the COVID-19 pandemic. It is noteworthy that this annual project, which is being held in various countries of the world, confirms the humanitarian role of the State of Kuwait and its people and embodies the meaning of giving.
